Lent at Hawley Lutheran Church
Lent is a season of the church year when we focus and reflect on our sin, our need for Christ and what Christ accomplished on the cross. During Lent, there is an intentional focus on Christ, through prayer, worship, study, service and worship. These spiritual practices help us to focus on Jesus’ sacrificial love.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Here, we are marked with ashes that remind us of our sin and mortality. We are reminded that we fall short and need Jesus to reconcile us to God. As we hear the scriptures and sing the songs of Ash Wednesday, we’re invited to “rend our hearts and not our garments” and begin the Lenten journey.

What to expect Easter Sunday
As you arrive, our main parking is located to the east of the building. Need to drop off young children or a family member or friend with mobility limitations? Feel free to drive right up to the east doors and one of our doorholders will assist you! There is on-street parking to the north, south and west. When you enter the church, one of our doorholders or ushers will greet you and can answer any questions you have.
Kids are welcome and encouraged to participate in the entire service. If you have a young one that needs to exit during the service, please feel free to do so - but at Hawley Lutheran, we don’t mind the sound of kids! Relax and let them be little! Both services will include a Children’s Message. An adult or older sibling is welcome to accompany children to the front for this time.
The Early Service is contemplative as we come out of Holy Week and enter into proclamation of Jesus’ resurrection. The Late Service is filled with music, joy and celebration as we sing Alleluia and proclaim Jesus’ victory over death. Communion is celebrated at the 7:30 a.m. service. Gluten Free and Juice are available.
All who believe in the promises of Jesus victory over sin and death are welcome to communion.
You may wonder what to wear. Hawley Lutheran Church the answer is whatever is comfortable! Pastor Andrea will be in traditional pastor robes and stoles for the Easter celebration, but we invite you to come as you are!

This Lent, join us as we explore people in the bible who sought Jesus and discover what they were really looking for.
