December 2020
Dear Hawley Lutheran Church Family:
Over the past weeks, the vision council and staff have been in regular communication about moving forward in ministry during this challenging pandemic.
After conversations with local health officials, and through prayerful discernment, we have made the decision to pause all
in-person Treasure Kids, CREW, Youth Events, Confirmation and Sonic Singers through December. We love having our kids and youth in the building, learning and growing in faith, but as we assess our situation, we feel this is the best option.
Confirmation families are urged to keep an eye on the Remind App for details about upcoming lessons & the code for Zoom. Confirmation on Zoom for 7th & 8th grade @ 6:30 PM and 9th & 10th Grade will be at 7:30 PM.
Worship will continue in person on Sunday @ 9:30 AM & streamed on Facebook; Wednesday at 6:00 PM; streamed. We thank you for your ongoing prayer and support as we navigate this challenging time in ministry.

We know there are many questions and concerns surrounding COVID-19.
At this time, HLC will be holding worship services as regularly scheduled for the foreseeable future. Please note, if you do not feel comfortable attending in person, we will be attempting to stream services live on Facebook. ALL OTHER ACTIVITIES ARE CANCELLED at least through March 29.
The council, along with Pastor Andrea, is continuing to monitor the situation and working to make prayerful decisions that are in the best interest of our congregation and community. We are in regular conversation.
Thank you for your grace and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented situation. Please continue to check our Facebook Page and Webpage. Share this information with those who may not have access.

Dear Hawley Lutheran Members,
The current news about COVID-19 is concerning. We know you are likely thinking about the impact of COVID-19 and what that looks like at HLC.
Along with Pastor Andrea, we have been in discussion as a Council. We are closely following the developments and are considering best practice in the days to come. Here's what we have come up with at this time:
- At this time, we will continue church services for tomorrow Sunday, March 15th, with Josh Svaleson guest preaching.
- We will refrain from handshakes. Instead, we invite you to wave greet one with a wave and hello.
- We will maintain careful procedures in our services and celebration of the Lord's Supper. Servers will use hand sanitizer prior to communion as well as adjustments to how bread and wine are distributed.
- We will not pass the offering plate, but instead will have the plates available at the back of the church. Alternatively, you can drop your offerings at the Church Office. Thank you for your continued support and generosity at this time.
- We will continue to minister to people in need as we are able and as is allowed by our local facilities.
- Our custodial staff will work diligently to maintain a clean building, regularly wiping down and disinfecting door handles, pews, bathrooms and more.
- The Church Office will stay open. Services will continue as planned. The church is called to be the light of the world and be present and available in times of need. That said, we encourage you to do what is best for your health situation, and we remind you that this is a fluid situation.
- Remember, this virus is especially concerning for the elderly and people with compromised immune systems. Therefore, out of love for our neighbors and service to them, it is vital that we attend to best practices to care for our neighbor: clean hands, good hygiene and staying home if sick or unwell, regardless of age.
At this time, we are reminded that the Lord is with us. He is above all things, in all things, through all things. He holds all things together. (Colossians 1:17). We do not have a spirit of fear, but instead walk with prayerful discernment. We continue to place our trust in the Lord, turning to him for peace.
If you have questions or concerns, contact the Church Office our Council. We will keep you informed of any changes as they come. And please remember, this is a fluid, ever changing situation. May we continue to extend patience, gentleness and grace as we navigate these waters.
