HLC Inclement Weather and Church Cancellation Policy

We want all of our staff, volunteers, and congregation to remain safe in times of uncertain weather and road conditions. However, if church remains on schedule, we do caution that you use your own discretion as to whether you should make the trip or not, given your location and travel conditions.

In the event of inclement weather on a Sunday or Wednesday, the church will announce its closing via social media and email. The announcement will come out by 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, or 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. If Hawley is in a Winter Storm Warning or Blizzard Warning until or beyond 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings or 3 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, then all activities will be cancelled. If the warning is predicted to expire at an earlier time, then the decision for delay or cancellation will come from the executive team and lead pastor. We will take into consideration: weather conditions and possibility of improvement, road conditions, and temperatures. We will closely monitor current and future forecasts, as well as consider district closures when making our decisions. Another reason for cancellation of a weekday service may include large-scale community events that will greatly impact our ability to operate, due to lack of staff and volunteer availability. An example of this would be a finals competition in a high school sport. We value our youth and our community support, and wish to build them up as a church community in all ways possible. These cancellations will be announced as soon as possible, with knowledge of such events.
